Sarpa Bali is a Sarpa dosha Nivaran puja performed to eliminate the impacts of Visha Sarpa Drishti Dosha, especially for eliminating the negative energies in a house, long-standing skin problems not responding to treatment, delayed marriage, pregnancy and incurable diseases. The Sarpa dosha Bali Puja is performed to worship Lord Nagaraja - the King of Serpents.
Who should perform Sarpa Bali :
Those suffering from long-standing skin and eye conditions, delayed pregnancies, fatal illness, delayed marriages, repeated abortions, etc. can perform this puja. This puja is also done to atone for harming the snakes, their habitats – the earth and the trees, and also prior to carrying out any digging of earth which are the natural habitats of the snakes.

Typically, this puja is performed once a year on Ayilyam/Ashlesha Nakshatra in the month of Mithuna. Auspicious Muhurats will differ from individual to individual. Consult a priest to know your auspicious muhurat

Sarpa Bali can be performed either at your home, temple or as per the priest’s instructions
How is Sarpa Bali done (observances and rules):
- Devotees performing the puja must observe fast during the two days prior to the puja.
- Avoid any negative thoughts.
- Cleanse themselves thoroughly and wear clean clothes
- A Kalam (drawing) made of rice and other colour ingredients is drawn.
- Pulluvan pattu a folk song played by Pulluva community belonging to the Hindu subcaste is mandatory during the puja.
- Offerings of paddy, rice, tender coconut, milk, fruit, turmeric etc. are made to the Naga deities.
