The Karuka Homa is a unique homa performed to remove barriers brought on by evil forces like black magic, etc. This homa is also referred to as the Durva Homa because it is a ritual that uses durva grass. Lord Ganapati, the son of Lord Shiva, who is adored and worshipped as the remover of barriers and harbinger of victory, is the ruling deity of this ritual.

The Karuga Homa should be performed to eliminate balarishta or malevolent effects that impact children from the time of conception typically up to the age of twelve.

- While performing this puja the devotee must sit facing East.
- It is essential to cleanse your body and keep your mind clean from any negative thoughts.
- Should wake up early and after bath must offer prayers to the planet lords.
- Ensure to wear clean and new clothes.
- External distractions should be avoided while performing the puja.
- The observer must abstain from consuming alcohol and non-vegetarian food on the day of the puja.
