Planets this week-  10^th to 16^th April 2011

The sky witnesses the transit of Sun and Venus this week. The royal planet Sun enters Mesha on the afternoon of 14^th and the sensuous planet Venus enters its exalted rasi Meena on the morning of 16^th. The combustible motion of Jupiter and Mars in Meena rasi and retrograde motion of Saturn in Kanya rasi are continuing. The combustible and retrograde motion of debilitated Mercury also is continuing in Meena rasi.  Another occurance happens in the sky this week is the planetary war between Jupiter and debilitated Mercury on the morning of 12th. Mercury beats Jupiter and goes backward.

As per the Vedic astrology, the Hindu New Year begins, when Sun enters the first degree of Mesha (Aries).  Also called as the New Solar Year, it generally commences on 13^th or 14^th April.  This year the New Year begins on 14^th April 2011 afternoon.  As the Soorya samkrama takes place after the sun rise, the next day, 15^th is celebrated in Kerala. It is celebrated in almost all places in India by the Hindus by different names.  In Kerala this day is called Vishu, in Assam it is Bihu, in Punjab it is Baisakhi, and in Tamil Nadu it is Puthandu.

Politically the retrograde motion of Mercury aspected by Saturn and Vasundara Yoga in Meena sign indicates that economic crimes and fraudulence may hit the headlines in India and it shows that corrupt ones cannot escape forever.
